1985 De Tomaso Innocenti Turbo

From the Anglo-Italian-Japanese Boosted Hatchback Department comes this 1985 De Tomaso Innocenti Turbo – a project car for those with a boundless desire to enjoy three-cylinder turbocharged hatchback motoring forever. Innocenti started with steel tubing, later produced the Lambretta scooter, then struck a deal with Austin to build Bertone-designed cars with Austin Mini mechanicals. Austin was absorbed by British Leyland, Innocenti taken by De Tomaso, who then turned to Japan and the Daihatsu Charade for Innocenti underpinnings in the Eighties. A small turbo wicked up the 993cc three-cylinder engine to about 68hp. These intersections of Italian design and Japanese technology were produced in various guises until 1992.
